TAHVON Campbell scored his first goal of the season in the 1-0 Carabao Cup win against Swindon Town.

The striker also made his first start to the season having not featured in the league so far this season.

Campbell showed great composure to give Rovers the lead but praised the work of his team mates in the build up to his goal.

"It was good work from the boys with consistent running and putting pressure on them," said Campbell. "They made a mistake, the ball fell to me and luckily I scored.

"It's one of them where I saw the corner and put it away."

Forest Green had to withstand strong pressure from Swindon, particularly in the first half and the former West Bromwich Albion man was pleased with how his side dug deep and remained patient.

"It's was a good game and a good test and I'm just happy to win the game and progress to the next round," added the striker.

"It was a tough game, we had the wind against us in the first half but second half we knew the game was going to change so fortunately we were getting more balls in behind which suited me more.

"Everyone put in a good shift and it was good that we saw the game out and its a real improvement from last season."

The draw for the second round takes place at 7pm tonight but Campbell doesn't mind who Rovers face.

"I'm not too fussed," he said. "I want to see how far we can go in the cup and go on a good cup run."

Campbell worked tirelessly throughout the match without seeing much of the ball but took the one chance when he got it and is hoping he can force his way into the starting line up in the league.

"It's down to the manager but the boys have had a great start so for me its just a matter of being happy for them and when I do get a chance and hopefully I'll take it."
