Chipping Sodbury Town have continued picking up points after beating Cadbury Heath FC 3-2 in a hotly contested match.

The match could be seen as a must win for Sodbury as they continue to look closely over their shoulder at the drop zone.

However an early goal and composed winner went a long way to ensuring new managers, Joe and Steve White, keep moving the club in the right direction.

Looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat to Hallen, Sodbury started the game brightly.

Attacking midfielder Liam Pullen, who had a spell out of the side with injury took advantage of some slack defending to put the hosts 1-0 up in the fourth minute.

Defending has been Sodbury’s weakness all season, and they were then undone themselves as Matt Huxley tucked home after a great through ball by Harrison Kyte.

Sodbury then found themselves 2-1 down in the sixteenth minute as Huxley again finished well after some good work from Sam Bailey.

Heath then looked to kill the game off, however they spurned two great chances.

The sides were level just after the half hour mark, as a defensive mix up allowed Jack Parker to tap home.

Both teams came out for the second half determined to make their mark on the game.

Cadbury Heath had not lost on their travels this season and were doing all they could to regain the lead.

Joe Chandler had a shot for the visitors which just missed, before a header from a corner also sailed wide.

It was Sodbury though who took the lead with the fifth goal of the game.

Striker George Box, who had a fantastic goal-scoring streak at the end of last season, was the man who secured the three points for the Sods in the 65th minute.

They were able to hang on for the win and climb to 17th position ahead of a trip to high-flying Bridgwater on Saturday.
