Fairford 1 Flackwell Heath 2

FAIRFORD Town went down to a narrow defeat on Tuesday night against high flying Flackwell Heath.

Manager Jody Bevan made changes to the line-up with Sam Morris, Jack Beardsell and Dan Bailey replaced by Callum Preece, Mason Thompson and Ben Snook with the hosts looking to keep fresh amidst a busy schedule of games.

It was the visitors who struck first, with Flackwell’s Dan Bailey heading home a 13th minute opener at the back post.

It remained 1-0 going into the break until eight minutes after the restart, when a well-worked free-kick saw Danny Gudger net his second goal in as many games to draw level.

Leius Sinclair struck what proved to be the winner with 20 minutes left on the clock, with no foul given on Ben Saunders in the build-up, allowing a through ball which was finished well from inside the box.

Speaking after the game, manager Bevan commented: “Games are won by fine margins and tonight was a tough battle that we just fell short in. It was a game in which I think we deserved a point, but such is life and we now move on to Saturday’s game at Bishops Cleeve.”

Bevan's side remain 14th while Flackwell are in sixth place in the Hellenic Premier League.
