Forest Green Rovers Ladies fell just short in a 1-0 defeat away to Ilminster Town Ladies on Remembrance Sunday writes Connor Laing.

It was Ilminster who started the brighter of the two teams, Becca Woods forced into a smart, close-range save following a set-piece played over the top of the Forest Green defence after just four minutes.

A corner from the hosts was almost scrambled into the goal on the stroke of half time but it was eventually cleared away from danger by Rovers.

Ilminster got their breakthrough four minutes into the second period.

A seemingly simple ball to deal with was scooped into the air by FGR full-back Rosie Dimery before a few players from both teams leapt up with goalkeeper Woods who attempted to gather the ball.

It was an Ilminster head that got to the ball first as it was directed into the vacant goal.

Hannah Nowakovska had possibly the best chance for FGR when she was played through on goal before the Ilminster keeper smothered her attempt, with the ricochet going just past the post.

Their next match is a cup game against local side Abbeymead Rovers on Sunday, November 18.
