MAX MUDWAY crowned his first professional boxing bout with a points victory over Lithuanian opponent Arvydas Trizno at the Meca in Swindon.

Backed by a large and vociferous following at the Meca in Swindon, the Stroud pugilist was on the front foot from the get-go in this light middleweight division contest.

Slick movement and sharp combinations pinned Trizno back. Mudway,23, continued the fight with gusto and a stoppage was on the cards for the former Maidenhill student, who boxes at the Fight Factory gym in Gloucester.

Mudway was at it from the bell of the second-round - a fizzing jab followed by a big right-hand sent Trizno to the canvas and through the ropes, he recovered following a standing eight count.

After four dominant rounds, Mudway's hand was raised with a unanimous decision 40-35.

Mudway, said: "I was happy with my performance, always room for improvement and from listening to my trainers and watching a few clips back, I can see things that we need to work on to improve for the future - its made me hungrier than ever for the next step.
