YORK City will be tackling the National League’s highest marksmen when they travel to FA Trophy hosts Harrogate Town tomorrow.

The Minstermen’s North Yorkshire neighbours have rattled in 49 goals during their 24 games – a tally that is one more than second-placed Salford.

But, while Simon Weaver’s men are averaging more than two goals per league game, a total of 30 conceded is the highest amount in the top half of the National League table and the team have also failed to keep a clean sheet in nine matches.

Harrogate continue to be a force to be reckoned with, however, on their 3G pitch, where they have only lost one of their last 18 games – a 3-0 reverse to current table-toppers Leyton Orient in September.

In total, Town have won 12 and drawn five of the other matches staged in front of their own supporters in that period, scoring 47 goals and letting in 17.

Such form means last season’s National League North play-off final winners lie third during their first campaign of fifth-tier football – four points behind Orient.

Jack Muldoon, signed from Fylde in the summer, is the team’s top scorer on ten goals and seven of the 29-year-old, former Lincoln City striker’s efforts have come in home matches.

He reached double figures last weekend in the 4-1 home win over Aldershot when centre-back Warren Burrell hit a hat-trick – representing his first goals of the season.

Stability has been one of the biggest watchwords at Harrogate in 2018/19 with four players – Burrell, James Belshaw, Callum Howe and George Thomson – all ever presents in the league, with 24 appearances apiece.

Three others have also started more than 20 league matches – Josh Falkingham, Liam Kitching and Muldoon.

Experienced former Shrewsbury and Northampton defender Kelvin Langmead could be back in contention after missing the Aldershot victory, while ex-Chelsea midfielder Michael Woods – the grandson of 1965 City fourth division promotion winner Alan and nephew of late 1990s’ Bootham Crescent striker Neil – could be handed his first start following a move from Hartlepool last month.

Woods, 28, netted on his second debut for Harrogate during a 3-1 home win against Braintree and has made four other appearances from the bench.
