STROUD-BASED Peter Beadle has emerged as the front-runner to land the Gloucester City job.

The former Hereford boss is tipped to land the position vacated by former Forest Green captain Chris Todd, who was shown the exit door by the club following a 3-1 defeat at home to Weston super-Mare on New Year’s Day – a loss that marked four months without a league win and Todd’s 11th defeat in 15 games.

Beadle boasts an impressive managerial CV. In the three years at Edgar Street, Beadle led the club to the Midland Football League title in 2015–16, as well as the Midland Football League Cup and Herefordshire County Cup, and the FA Vase final.

He then led Hereford to successive Southern League Division One South & West and Premier Division titles in the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons, before being sacked in September 2018 with the club 12th in the National League North.

Former Forest Green winger Alex Sykes and ex-Cheltenham Town defender John Brough are thought to be in contention for the City hot-seaT.
