James Montgomery says he'll 'come back stronger' after it was revealed he's had further teeth removed and undergone minor surgery.
The Forest Green took a boot to his face during Tuesday night's 1-1 draw which resulted him losing three teeth.
After surgery to patch up the injury above his eye and on his lip, the keeper has revealed he's on the mend.
He said: “I really appreciate all the messages I’ve had from fans - it means a lot.
"I’m on the mend and will be back stronger.
“I want to give a big thanks to our physio Joe Baker as well as the staff at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for all their help.
“Well done to the lads last night who battled on and managed to earn a draw and congratulations to Lewis on making his debut."
Lewis Ward came on for his Forest Green debut and is set to deputise for the former Gateshead man.
