BRIMSCOMBE boss Sam Prior says there’s plenty of legs left in the season as the Lilywhites eye the Hellenic Premier League title, writes Paul Joannou.

Prior’s team picked up a crucial three points against title rivals Wantage Town on Tuesday, January 29 with a 2-1 victory which gave them a four point cushion at the top, although teams do have a number of games in hand over them.

Brimscombe have nine games left to play, including to mouthwatering games against Wantage and Brackley Town Saints who are currently second and third but Prior insists the Lilywhites must focus on their own results.

“There’s legs left in this season,” he said. “We just need to take care of ourselves, it’s going to go all the way.

“It’s great to be in it. Brackley and Wantage have to play each other twice but I’d love it if the race got to the last few games when we play them.”

Brimscombe have had some impressive results against the league’s leading lights and would rather be playing the top teams in the run-in.

"We’ve now gone to Wantage, Bishops Cleeve and Ascot and won. We always seem to thrive in big games.

"I’d rather play those games over Longlevens and Tuffley.”

The Lilywhites took on Binfield in the cup on Tuesday night and will face them again in the league this weekend.

Prior is wary of their threats and is not looking at their league position as a guide.

"It’s a very tough game," he said.

"They’re 10th but have loads of games in hand We drew 3-3 with them earlier in the season so it’ll be tight."
