FOREST Green forward George Williams felt he was unlucky to have his goal chalked off against Swindon Town on Tuesday night.

The Welshman thought he brought Forest Green back into the game when he headed Liam Shephard's cross past Lawrence Vigouroux but he was flagged offside.

The 23-year-old felt on another day he could have came away with a couple of goals, as he also hit the post but he believes he was onside having watch the goal back.

"Personally I’ve watched it back and I’m level with Shephard," Williams said.

"I think the linesman’s got to give the attacker the benefit of the doubt so on another day, I know it’s what ifs, but I could be looking at a couple of goals."

Williams says the players are hurting after back-to-back defeats but took some encouragement from their second half performance.

“We’re gutted that we have lost the game," he commented.  "I didn’t think we played that badly first half but we conceded two sloppy goals and perhaps didn’t take our chances.

“Second half we were on top and created so many chances, if we get one of them goals we go on and we have a right good go but it’s what ifs."

Williams sees no reason to panic after recent defeats and is already looking ahead to Saturday's game against 21st place Yeovil Town.

The former MK Dons man says the players need to show determination but is confident they can put another run together in the remaining games to retain their place in the play-offs.

"It’s two games we’ve lost now but if we can kill that on Saturday and get a win I’m sure these last two games will be forgotten about and we’ll keep fighting.

"We’re still in the play-offs, it feels rubbish at the moment because we’ve lost two games but when you look at the picture it’s not too bad and there’s still loads of football to be played, there’s 14 games so if we can go on a run of wins we’ll be alright.”

“It hurts, we haven’t lost two in a row all season. We’re not used to this but it’s how we react but we’ve got a good group of boys but we’ll get together and put things right and go again Saturday.”

“We’re going to have to show a bit of fight and determination along with the good football we play to get ourselves out of this.
