SHORTWOOD UNITED boss Jason Scrivens has revealed he picked the brains of Forest Green chief Mark Cooper.

Scrivens was effusive in warm approval of Cooper after he was afforded the opportunity to chew over the managerial fat in a one-on-one last week.

Toolstation Western Premier League Shortwood United have endured a chastening season and are without a win this season, but Scrivens has recently seen green shoots of recovery and he hopes his pow-wow with Cooper will help his side turn the corner.

Scrivens said: “ I had a very constructive meeting with Coops (Mark Cooper) who gave me some very good pointers on how to try and get the best from the players.

“He’s a nice guy and has also opened his door anytime for a chat along with visits to their training ground, this also helps forge a healthy relationship between the two clubs as we already have academy players Rendijs Kalnins and Taylor Marsh on loan with us.”

Shortwood entertain Wellington on Saturday, 3pm.
