Cheltenham Civil Service 48 Painswick 18
Painswick slipped to a heavy defeat to league leaders Cheltenham Civil Service.
Painswick started slowly and some weak tackling allowed the home team to score two tries in the first 10 minutes.
A strong run from Mark Eldridge put Painswick on the attack with Tom Powell scoring a penalty.
Civil Service then added a further try until some good structured play from the Painswick forwards led to a further penalty from Powell.
Unfortunately Civil Service stretched their lead with a further try. Another strong run from Eldridge ended in no.8 Russ Thornton storming over for a try converted by Powell leaving Painswick trailing 13-24 at the interval.
Painswick kicked away too much possession allowing the strong running Civil Service backs to run in four further tries.
Substitute Joe Marshall scored a deserved try near the end but Painswick were beaten by a team who were strong in all departments.
