Forest Green Rovers manager Mark Cooper has received his second nomination of the season for the League Two Manager of the Month award, while striker Christian Doidge joins him in the April short list for Player of the Month.

Having been nominated in November, Cooper saw his side hit their stride just at the right time and came within two minutes of claiming a perfect record for the month.

Rovers started the month with a 2-1 win away to Crawley before following that up with a 2-0 win at home to Macclesfield before a dogged 1-0 win away to promotion rivals Tranmere Rovers opened the door ajar for the automatic spots, with a win at The New Lawn over Cambridge United putting them within three points.

However, that door was slammed shut when Crewe scored twice late on last weekend to Crewe Alexandra, ending hopes of the perfect month in the process.

Cooper will be up against Newport County’s Mike Flynn - who saw his team climb into the play-offs on Tuesday, Stevenage boss Dino Maamria and Macclesfield Town's Sol Campbell.

In a superb month for Forest Green, talismanic striker Doidge was a pivotal figure, bagging five in the five games.

A brace against Crawley, including one at the death, was followed up with the opener against Macclesfield.

He also scored the crucial winner against Cambridge that secured Rovers’ place in the play-offs and netted the third goal against Crewe.

Doidge, who is on course to be the record goal scorer for the club the third season running, is up against former FGR man Kurtis Guthrie, who now plays for Stevenage, Newport goalkeeper Joe Day and Exeter City striker Ryan Bowman.

The winners will be announced on Friday, May 3, with the judging panel comprising of Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Ivor Davies.
