Husband and wife team Sean and Gwen Kinsey won medals at the recent World Multisport Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.

Competing in the aquathlon event (1000m swim and 5km run), Sean dominated the field from the start to win gold in the 55-59 category by 47 seconds ahead of another Brit and a German. Determined to use his swimming strength to gain as big a gap as possible, Sean worked hard in the river, catching some athletes in the previous wave before the halfway point.

He exited the water almost two minutes ahead of the next swimmer, and ran well despite suffering from cramp early on.

Earlier in the week, Gwen took part in the sprint duathlon (5km run / 20km bike/ 2.5km run). Gwen controlled the first run, had a swift transition but was overtaken early on the bike by the eventual winner from Spain. However, she had a solid all round race to pick up the silver medal in the 45-49 age category. Gwen was especially delighted to finish third across all the age categories.

Sponsored by local businesses The Bike Works and Gyles Allen Hairdressers, Gwen is also ambassador for 5 Valleys Physiotherapy and The 5th Dimension.

Meanwhile, Stroud was well represented with Sally Frapwell (8th in sprint duathlon), Michael Stevenson (23rd in aquathlon) and Lewis Saunders (31st in aquathlon).
