There is Bank Holiday bonanza for all cricket fans in the County.

On Monday, May 27 Gloucestershire are staging a four day County Championship match against the attractive Lancashire, who have won both their matches this season.

Do not expect the ground to be as it is for the festival as the game will be played on the College square which will provide a good quick wicket. Refreshments will be readily available and there will be a chance to dine in the College dining hall.

Our young batsmen have been in fine form this season and Josh Shaw has just joined on loan from Yorkshire.

It will be half-term week and good crowds are expected, Lancashire are always popular visitors and will bring a good following of their own.

There will be a real chance to see some proper cricket before the wretched new competition, The Hundred, pollutes next season. Forest Green Rovers may have failed win promotion this season but there is every reason to be confident for the next one. A goalkeeper, a centre half and I hope two mean streetwise midfielders are needed and I have two other hopes. Firstly, that home fans in all three stands are noisy and act as a lively twelfth man.

Secondly, I hope for a fine playing surface throughout the season - our passing demands one.
