STOKED to return to Shortwood United, new co-manager Mat Blythe is relishing the prospect of working alongside Jason Scrivens.

Optimism ahead of the new season is rife at Meadowbank following relegation from the Western Premier League.

Blythe, who led Frampton to second in the County League and a Stroud Charity Cup win, is confident Shortwood can compete next term in Hellenic Division One West and believes the club is on an upward curve with a development team in place and a flourishing youth set up.

"Shortwood is a marquee football club in Gloucestershire," Blythe said.

"Any aspiring footballer, wanting to make a name for themselves, this is a great club to join and get a bit of exposure and kick-on if you are good enough."

And Blythe is confident the partnership with Scrivens is the perfect fit.

He added:"I've always kept in touch with Jason and we get on well and have similar interests outside the game and both DJ in our spare time. I'm confident we can do a job together and move the club forward."
