FOREST GREEN striker Shawn McCoulsky is stepping up to the plate with his second goal in a week.
On target in the 1-1 draw against Championship outfit Cardiff City on Tuesday, the former Bristol City striker found the net again as Forest Green defeated Southern Premier League Swindon Supermarine 2-1. Newbie Taylor Allen added a second for Mark Cooper's side.
Billed as the marquee January signing to fill the boots of Bolton-bound Doidge, McCoulsky was forced to play second fiddle when Doidge's move imploded, but he looks to have found his range during pre-season.
McCoulsky opened the scoring on 24 minutes with a composed finish. Allen bagged a second on 38 minutes - Rovers fizzed the ball about with aplomb before Ebou Adams played Allen in.
Dayle Grubb hit the post after the break before Swindon pulled a goal back with 12 minutes to go. Former Forest Green player Stuart Fleetwood fashioned the chance for a Swindon triallist to beat James Montgomery.
Forest Green continue their pre-season schedule with a trip to Yate Town on Wednesday, 7.30pm.
