Celebrating its 100th anniversary year, Victory Park Bowls club hosted a match against a mixed team from the Gloucestershire County Bowling Association.

Victory Park, which is situated at Cainscross near Stroud, welcomed players from the Bristol area, Cheltenham, Moreton-in-Marsh and from all the local clubs in the Stroud area.

Amongst the Victory Park players were John Tombs, the Victory Park president, who has been a member of the club since 1979, Dave Walker, the club captain, Martin Bevan, who is also the junior vice president for the county and a new bowler, Paul Garraway, who joined this year.

The county team was headed by Keith Bedford, the county president also playing was Gareth Tarplee, senior vice president and fixtures secretary Roger Harrison. The youngest player on the green, playing for the county was Frankie Marsh, 16 who lives in Dursley and plays at Cotswold BC and the previous day she had become the Gloucestershire Junior Singles Champion and will represent the county at the Ladies National Championships in Leamington Spa.

At tea following the game, the county president presented the club with a pennant and a presentation clock and the highest winning rinks on each team were given commemorative glasses and pens.
