Brimscombe 3 Westfields FC 3
BRIMSCOMBE boss Sam Prior insists any team that finishes above Westfields FC will win the Hellenic Premier League title.
Brimscombe held the Hereford outfit to a 3-3 thriller at the Meadow on Saturday and Prior was delighted to see his side find their form after spurning a frustrating draw against Tuffley Rovers last time out.
Prior said: “I’m delighted with the reaction shown by all involved. We responded not only to a poor show last week but to also going behind. Some luck went for us for a change, hopefully it continues. Any side that finish above Westfields FC will win this league, proper side.”
It was a high-octane opening – Westfields opening the scoring on 17 minutes through Sam Gwynne, but Edd Major netted parity sixty-seconds later. Four minutes on and a Kane Kahaki own goal gave Prior’s side the lead.
The goal tide continued with Westfields netting parity. However, in first-half stoppage-time Jack Smith nodded home to regain the lead for the Lilywhites.
After the break Aidan Thomas made it 3-3 on 57 minutes with a sumptuous finish to give Brimscombe keeper Ash Gale no chance.
Brimscombe welcome Bishop's Cleeve tonight, 7.45pm and Brackley Town Saints on Saturday, 3pm.
