FOREST GREEN head coach Mark Cooper heralded the impact of wonderkid Odin Bailey after the Birmingham City loan star struck an unstoppable long-range strike in his side's 2-2 draw at Grimsby Town.

The 20 year-old who joined on loan last month, was on hand to fizz in a sumptuous strike to draw Rovers level in the first-half to cancel out Charles Vernam’s early goal. Rovers nosed ahead on 50 minutes through  Celtic loanee Jack Aitchison, but Anthony Glennon grabbed parity just three minutes later for Ian Holloway's side.

Cooper beamed: “That’s the best goal I’ve seen at Forest Green. The kid (Odin Bailey) has got brilliant ability and you can see today -  his performance,  he’s an outstanding young talent and we are so fortunate that Birmingham have let us have him and I’m sure there will be more moments from Odin.

“We had the best chances to win it, disappointed we didn’t win, but I’m pleased with the performance - and we start with a point and try and kick-on.

“ We settled at half-time came back out on the front foot and scored another good goal and I felt we would go onto win, but we conceded to quickly after our goal.”
