BRADFORD City were well beaten in their FA Women's National League Division One North derby last night, losing 6-0 at neighbours Leeds United.

The Bantams travelled to Thorpe Arch knowing the midweek fixture would be tough against hosts with more strength in depth in their squad.

City have at times been short of numbers this season and again they pulled in a couple of players that had been performing well in the reserves.

They got off to the worst possible start after four minutes when Leeds striker Rebecca Hunt was the beneficiary of a marginal offside decision and she rounded keeper Aimee Routledge to open the scoring.

Leeds continued to press City, who struggled to get any sort of passing game going, and scored twice more before the break.

The visitors looked a bit more purposeful after the break, closing down in midfield more and starting to look dangerous. A couple of chances fell to Monika Stube and Falone Sumaili but they came to no avail as Leeds added a further three goals.

City manager Chris Hames was left with a few problems to solve, such as why did a defence that looked so solid the previous match look so unsure. He also looked frustrated at the number of fouls against his team that were either not seen or went unpunished.

City will look to bounce back on Sunday when they host Chorley Women, who are just four points and two places above them.

However, their visitors will be buoyed by a 2-1 win at home to Bolton Wanderers in midweek.

Chorley appear to be going through some disruption internally but have a good history in the league with some very experienced players and will provide another good test for the Bantams.

City (v Leeds): Routledge, Roberts (Prothero 46), Sales, Shepherd, Woodcock, Stube, Norde, Stuart, Hunt (Willoughby 80), Durrant, Jakeman (Sumaili 56)
