HEAD COACH Mark Cooper insists he can turn Forest Green's fortunes around.

Cooper watched his side stretch their winless run to eight with a toothless display at Scunthorpe United.

Newcastle United target John McAtee caught Forest Green cold a minute after the break in a game devoid of chances.

Out of sorts Rovers have now posted two wins from their last 20 matches, but Cooper remained steadfast when asked if he can halt the slide. “We can, but we can’t keep making mistakes and you can’t keep missing chances,” admitted Cooper.

“The boys have got to take a bit of responsibility and be a little bit more professional - and as a staff we have to give them a platform and information they need to perform - and they didn’t today."

Cooper felt his side were comfortable in the first-half, but their perennial struggles in the final third proved to be their nemesis. He added: “We had no urgency in the final third and whatever combination in the forward area we have used, have not been good enough and we’ve been powder-puff.

"We should never lose that game, we were comfortable in the first-half - no chances for them, but then a horrendous mistake gives them something to hold on to."
