STROUD is certainly on the youth football map with the formation of a new side that will compete against the likes of Derby County this season.

Stroud FC has ben formed by Steve Woodward and the club will compete against Derby County, Kidderminster Harriers, Worcester City, Tamworth, Exeter City, Bournemouth and Aldershot at Under-18s level.

To date the club has three teams, Under-12s and Under-15s who will compete in the Midland Junior Premier League and Under-18s who will play in the South West Counties League.

All teams play on Saturday mornings. The players in the older teams come from a wide area, reaching as far afield as Redditch and Worcester.

The club boasts nine FA qualified coaches covering the full spectrum from Level One through to UEFA A Licence, all have a minimum Emergency First Aid Certificate, Child Protection Certification and have been clearance checked by the CRB.

Also amongst its ranks are three qualified referees, thus extending the full range of the game's expertise.

The club's founder members Steve Woodward, Alison Peyton, Paul Matthews, Derek Winkworth, Tony Whiting and Rob Griffiths have all been involved in football for many years.

Meanwhile, Stroud FC has created an affiliation with Shortwood United with a mutual agreement for junior, youth and adult football.
