BIG beat ska funk and hip-hop band Largo Embargo and folk rockers The Outcast Band have been unveiled as the Friday and Saturday main stage headliners for Stroud Fringe 2014.
Formed in 2011, Largo Embargo have built up a massive following in the South West, especially around Bath and Bristol. Their reputation for roof-raising gigs is already rife in Stroud where they have performed to huge pub crowds before, and we are over the moon that they are returning to the town for Fringe Friday night to blow some cobwebs away.
Based in Stroud, The Outcast Band are festival veterans, and have headlined the Fringe before. In 2010, their show brought one of the biggest Friday night crowds we have ever seen, and we are delighted they are bringing their fast-paced, foot-stomping folk-punk-rock back to the Bank Gardens on the Saturday of this year's Fringe.
The announcement comes as organisers of the festival are still welcoming applications from bands hoping to fill the other slots on the main stage in Bank Gardens during the event, which this year will run from Friday August 29 to Sunday August 31. Anyone can apply online at stroudfringe.co.uk until the end of April, and acts will be selected by a sub-committee of Fringe organisers.
