FOREST Green Rovers Football Club, the Cotswolds and Stroud Hate Crime and Incident Action Group and Nailsworth Primary School are calling on kids to help them stop racism.

The three have teamed up to promote awareness of the Action Group, which operates under the Stroud and Cotswolds Crime Reduction Partnerships, by running a football themed event ahead of Forest Green's home game against Northwich Victoria on Saturday November 18.

Boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12 are invited to take part in a penalty shoot-out competition taking place in the grounds of Nailsworth Primary School prior to the match.

Plenty of prizes, including footballs, mini footballs and wristbands, will be given out to participants, with the shoot-out winners in each age group presented with their prizes at Forest Green's ground during the half time break.

Other attractions taking place at the school will include a football skills session run by members of Forest Green Rovers, and a speed shooting session organised by the Army.

Gloucestershire police will be in attendance in one of the force's mobile police stations, and officers will be post coding bikes and mobile phones and distributing literature on racism issues courtesy of the Kick Racism Out of Football Campaign.

In addition a balloon race has been organised, with 270 black and white balloons due to be released at Forest Green's ground before the kick-off.

Those wishing to take part in any of the organised events are asked to attend Nailsworth Primary School playground no later than 12pm on Saturday November 18.

Children who participate in the events at the school can watch the match at Forest Green free if attending with a fee paying adult.
