TWO men were arrested and cautioned yesterday, Saturday, after posting racist remarks on Facebook and Twitter.
The men - one aged 26 and from Nailsworth the other aged 21 and from Cheltenham - were arrested, interviewed and cautioned for the offence of stirring up racial hatred by using words, behaviour or by displaying written material contary to Section 18 of the Public Order Act 1986.
Gloucestershire police said the men had posted offensive comments on their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The comments have now been removed.
Inspector Joseph Tierney of Gloucestershire police, said: "The police will deal robustly with anyone who seeks to incite racial or religious hatred with the intention of causing fear and alarm within our communities."
