OAR-inspiring dad Bruno Greatorex plans to canoe 90 miles in three days to raise money for charity after his teenage daughter was given the all clear from cancer.

Chloe Greatorex, 14, a student at Thomas Keble School, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in February after finding lumps on her chest and neck.

However, after six months of procedures and medication, recent scans have shown that the treatment has been successful.

Now, her dad Bruno, of Churchill Road, Nailsworth, has decided to canoe 90 miles along the River Wye to raise money for Chloe’s chosen charity, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Bruno's brother Tim and friends Pat McLoughlin and Jeremy Keeble will join him on the challenge, which starts on Friday at Glasbury in Powys and finishes on Sunday at Monmouth.

"Chloe has been incredibly brave and patient throughout the whole process," said Bruno, head of care practice at the Novalis Trust.

"She has coped with the full impact this experience has had on her, from missing being able to hang out with her friends, school, losing her hair, painful procedures and some tough times with her medication regime."

Chloe’s mum Karen Balding has supported her through hours of chemotherapy and Chloe has managed to keep smiling and stay positive and hopeful most of time.

"Everyone is incredibly proud of Chloe and she is so grateful for all the support from family, friends, her school and hospital staff.

"Bruno's employer Jake Lukas, of the Novalis Trust, has given £500 to the cause and is supplying transport to the River Wye.

The Acorn School in Nailsworth is also supporting the event by lending equipment such as canoes and oars.
