Local Peugeot dealership, Olympic Cars Limited, has some cool tips to keep drivers in Stroud from overheating behind the wheel, after research has suggested almost half of UK drivers have experienced road rage*.
As the mercury continues to rise now summer’s finally arrived in Stroud many drivers are getting hotter under the collar than usual.
Olympic Cars Limited has produced its top five tips to help drivers keep cool and carry on:
1. Make sure the boot is emptied of non-essential items – having the windows down increases fuel consumption and a full boot will make this worse
2. Take a bottle of frozen water on the journey – this will be a godsend when the traffic comes to a standstill and thirsts need quenching
3. Park cars in the shade – nobody wants to get into a hot car after work, so where possible, keep vehicles out of the sun or invest in a sunshade for the dashboard
4. Keep air conditioning in tip top condition – the gas needs checking at least once a year to keep the air cool when it’s needed most
5. Make shade for little ones – sunshades will help keep children cool in the back seat, without compromising driver visibility Julian Ireland, dealer principal, said: “While it’s great to see that summer has arrived, the weather can make driving conditions seem unbearable at times, so as a dealership, we wanted to share all the tips we use to keep cool with our customers in Stroud.
“It can often be as simple as preparing for the warm weather before setting out, such as freezing a bottle of water or emptying the boot. These little things really add up when the temperature gets closer to 30˚C and drivers start to become irritable on the commute.
“The research shows that road rage is already evident among drivers in the UK and we want to minimise the risks this can create in Stroud by managing the negative effects of summer as much as possible.”
