POLICE in Quedgeley are investigating a series of incidents involving young people setting off fireworks.

Since the beginning of August there have been at least five reports of teenagers launching large fireworks at the skate park near Fieldcourt Drive and on Pennine Close.

Officers have spoken to residents and police are pursuing leads to find out who is responsible.

PCSOs will be door knocking in the next couple of days to gather more information and residents are also being encouraged to join Neighbourhood Watch.

Patrols will continue to focus on the area over the next few weeks.

Sergeant Lucie Koeltgen said: "We have heard that these are fireworks young people are buying online.

"When they go off they are very loud and causing a lot of upset and distress for residents. My team is now dealing with the issue as a priority.

"There could be offences here like setting off fireworks close to a public highway but more widely this is affecting people's quality of life and that is totally unacceptable."

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 quoting incident 572 of August 2.
