The current team will run its fifth fringe between August 30 and September 1.

And organisers have revealed that more than 150 acts will perform across two outdoor stages, and that 12 indoor venues are on board - more than in any other year since the new team took over.

The flagship main stage will once again be put up in Bank Gardens and a blues stage will entertain crowds at Cornhill.

Acts on the main stage include George Montague, Hot Feet, Thee Ones, Boat To Row, Gaz Brookfield, Novella Noise, Canary Swing and Chloe Foy.

There will also be music at Sugar nightclub, Kitsch, Bar Greyhound, the Prince Albert, Crown and Sceptre, Golden Fleece, Star Anise Cafe, Queen Victoria, the Ale House, Black Book Cafe and the Sub Rooms.

Dursley-based World Jungle will provide children’s activities in the Bank Gardens on Saturday morning, and a reggae sound system will also be set up in the Shambles on the Saturday evening.

Spokesman Freddie Whittaker said: “When we took on the fringe in late 2008, it had just been cancelled for the first time in history.“We have had to start again and build it back up from scratch, and this year’s line up is testament to the superb job Stroud’s pubs, clubs and venues do every year.“Money is tight these days, so while our efforts and core funding from the town council is used to make the most of our outdoor areas and marketing the fringe, Stroud’s venues do us proud in providing even more variety across town.”

A full paper programme is now available to buy from most shops in and around Stroud and the line-up can be seen at stroudfringe.co.uk
