VOLUNTEERS donned wellies and waterproofs and cleared the River Frome in Chalford to protect homes against the threat of flooding this winter.
The Chalford River Committee was up early last Saturday, August 16, to remove obstructions from the watercourse which should prevent the river from bursting its banks.
Debris was collected in a skip provided by the parish council. In the past homes have flooded in Chalford High Street.
The team is hoping to raise enough money to carry out a survey which will pinpoint which parts of the river need the most attention.
