ALTHOUGH the return of Stroud Fringe Festival is expected to take centre stage this weekend, there are a variety of things going on across the Five Valleys to suit all tastes.
Here are five things to do in Stroud this weekend
1.Stroud Fringe Festival– the festival kicks off today, Friday, with three days of mostly free music, and sees homegrown talent mingling with quality acts from further afield on three stages located in the heart of the town, and 10 other venues.

2.Bisley Fete and Flower Show – head to the village of Bisley from 2pm on Saturday – includes a pet show and a wide range of stalls, including white elephant, nearly new, books, plants, produce and cakes.
3. Stroud Farmers’ Market takes place between 9am and 2pm at Cornhill
4. Meet the Victorian servants between 2pm and 4pm at the Museum in the Park on Sunday.
5. Head to the Woolpack Inn, Slad, on Sunday evening (7.30pm) for Laurie Lee: in his own words – and enjoy readings of his work
