OOH la, la – these prep school pupils certainly know their onions when it comes to speaking French.
Berets, striped shirts, bright coloured neckerchiefs and strings of onions helped to create a Gallic atmosphere at Westonbirt Prep School during a performance for parents aimed at demonstrating French language skills.
Children sang, recited poetry and performed sketches.
“We know that the best way to learn a language is from an early age and to have as much fun as possible while learning,” said head teacher Neil Shaw.
“We go above and beyond the new national curriculum in our studies of modern languages.
“All children have a sound knowledge of French and enjoy a taster year of Spanish by the age of 11.”
A Mandarin club is due to start soon.
