A TEAM of workers from Gloucestershire will run off their mince pies and turkey in a charity rugby match to raise money for National Star.
Staff from Smith’s (Gloucester) Ltd, based in Stonehouse, will take to the pitch on Saturday, January 3, against Dursley RFC at the club in Stinchcombe.
Smith’s (Gloucester) Ltd which provide waste management and construction services, has chosen National Star as its charity of the year for the second year running.
The company, which employs over 400 people across the county and South West region, hopes to top its £600 amount that it raised this year.
Alan Smith, company director, said: “There is a big following of rugby within the company, in both playing and spectating.
"We have chosen the rugby match to try and get as many people as possible to participate in this fundraising event to raise the awareness of the National Star.”
Kick-off is at 2pm and entry is free. There will be food, a bar and a raffle.
National Star supports young people with complex disabilities and learning difficulties.
