PRANCER the Reindeer has calved a baby girl today at her home - Prinknash Bird and Deer Park.

Owner Melanie Meigh said she was “thrilled” and added: “The stunning little thing is still a bit wobbly but the birth went well and she was up and walking within the hour.

“We are still waiting for Comet to calve at some point over the next couple of days which is really exciting as we will then have two calves in the park.”

The proud father seven-year-old Rudolph is in his prime with his antlers now over four-foot in height.

Melanie said: “He's taking this very much in his stride and has been sunning himself all day.

“Last year Prancer and Comet calved two boys so we are thrilled to have at least one more female in the herd.”

The Bird Park is open from 10am to 4pm daily and the proud parents are on show all year around.
