LOLA Clark-Stone, 20, who lives on Bisley Road, Stroud, has described the moment she saw the fire in Church Street car park on Saturday night.
She said: “I was walking to my friend’s house on Belle Vue Road after me and my work colleagues had gone for a drink at the Imperial Hotel.
“I saw a cloud of big black smoke and I could see the flames.
“The smoke was so thick that I could not get through.
“I could also hear loud popping and banging noises and smell the smoke.
“A lot of people were coming out of the church nearby to see what had happened.
“I was there for about 20 minutes until the firefighters had got it under control and I could get through.”
Five cars were damaged in the fire, three severely, after an electrical fault caused a Renault Megane Scenic to go up in flames.
A six-crew fire engine, called at 7.45pm, attended until just after 9pm.
No one was injured.
