WITH the 2015 World Cup having drawn to a close in dramatic fashion at Twickenham, Minchinhampton’s Rugby Club is creating its own lasting legacy.

Having secured and created the salubrious new grounds at Holly bush, the club has been fundraising and working hard towards building the clubhouse that will take Minch RFC into the next era.

The construction of the modern clubhouse is now expected to be completed by Christmas.

It is an exciting time for the club, which for many years led a nomadic existence, as it sets down permanent roots at Crackstone.

It goes from strength to strength both off the field and on it – with 1sts promotion to Gloucester 2 achieved last year and a blossoming and successful junior section, as well as the prospect of some talented colts emerging.

Once the contractors are off site, the club will be putting its volunteer force into action once more, to hang doors, paint walls, and build fitted furniture; these volunteers are already helping by decorating boards and putting insulation into walls.

A spokesperson from the club said: “As ever, Minch RFC could not manage without the many generous volunteers within both the club and the community, who contribute both their expertise and their time selflessly.

“We are still fundraising to try and complete the first phase, hoping to secure further funds to enable fitting-out and furniture so that the clubhouse can be brought into proper use early in the New Year.

“Help and generous contributions have already been given from manufacturers, suppliers and tradesmen across the board; it’s been a tremendous community-build effort.

“If anyone would like to offer time or resources to the effort this would be gratefully received and recognised by the club; please contact Pete Varley, Chairman on varleys@icloud.com”
