HEALTH and wellbeing are the main themes of a new eco venture launched by Stroud Valleys Project.

The environmental charity is running weekly eco therapy sessions where volunteers will be working and in the long-term help plan and manage green spaces and local wildlife areas across the Stroud District.

It will also give people the opportunity to learn other skills such as cooking and growing vegetables.

The new voluntary scheme has launched through funding from the Peoples Health Trust.

SVP project officer Richard Lewis said:" This is a two year project and during this time we will return to the green spaces at different times of the year to do seasonal work and also reflect upon how those spaces may have change.

“The aim is to get volunteers to learn new skills, have regular outdoor exercise and make new friends.

"We hope to work across a wide range of wildlife habitats using the green spaces as outdoor classrooms where people may gain more knowledge.

“Some of the sites Stroud Valleys Project have worked at in the past so hopefully having the organisation out across a number of old and new wildlife sites will also give volunteers a chance to see different parts of the district.”

The two year project is being funded by the People's Health Trust Lottery and the session take place weekly on a Tuesday from 10am to 3 pm.
