THERE were celebrations when a further group of students from Gloucestershire Drama Academy (formerly Stroud Music & Drama Academy) achieved excellent exam grades.

All students who took the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art examinations recently achieved merits and distinctions.

Chas Burns, principal and tutor at the academy, said: “It’s truly wonderful that our academy’s students gain these results, it’s a real boost for their confidence and this only helps garner their ability and improves technique”.

In September the academy will be setting up acting studios in Dursley, Tetbury and Cheltenham, building on its success over the last five years.

“It’s time to branch out to prospective actors in the area that may find it difficult to get to Stroud,” said Chas.

The results were:

  •  Brett Griffiths (Grade 7 merit)
  • Anton Gould (Grade 5 distinction)
  • David Hill (Grade 7 merit)
  • Niall McLaughlin (Grade 3 distinction)
  • Luke Contino (Grade 5 merit)
  • Luca Chapman (Grade 3 distinction)
  • Sam Townley-Evans (Grade 5 merit)
  • Rubi Lapidge (Grade 2 distinction)
