A Painswick woman has today admitted fraud by claiming that two coffee mornings and an evening event which she organised were fundraisers for Macmillan Cancer.

Aimee Critchley, 35, of Churchill Way, also pleaded guilty at Gloucester crown court to stealing bottles of wine from Christopher Stack of New street, Painswick.

She denied two other theft charges and Judge Michael Cullum adjourned her case until October 20 to give the prosecution time to consider whether it will accept her pleas or go to trial.

Critchley denied stealing money belonging to Auriol Huntley in January this year and stealing money from Karen Wynn-Morgan in November last year,

She admitted that she stole wine from Christopher Stark last November.

Two of the fraud charges which she admitted were that in September 2014 she held coffee mornings in Painswick and Randwick which she claimed were to support Macmillan Cancer.

The final fraud charge alleged that an evening event she held in June last year was also for Macmillan Cancer.

Claire Buckley, defending, said Critchley' admission of the theft charge was on the basis that she took one bottle of wine but also drank wine from bottles which had already been opened.

Bailing her to allow the prosecution to consider the position Judge Michael Cullum told Critchley: "You will be given credit for the guilty pleas you have entered.

"I don't know whether the prosecution will accept those pleas.

"If they do you can be sentenced at the next hearing.

"If they don't you can have a trial in the near future."
