MORE landlords than expected say they will be affected by changes to mortgage tax relief.
According to the National Landlords Association, 16 per cent of landlords say they will be pushed into a higher tax bracket by the changes.
This represents a seven per cent increase since the last survey was carried out in the fourth quarter of 2016.
The changes, which will come into force fully by 2021 mean that landlords’ mortgage finance costs will count towards their taxable profit.
Many of those currently in the lower tax bracket, will now be pushed into the higher bracket now their mortgage finance costs are taken into account.
