POLICE have confirmed that a ‘verbal altercation’ took place between Cheltenham Town and Forest Green fans following the game this afternoon in Nailsworth.
The Gloucestershire derby, dubbed El Glosico, saw Forest Green and Cheltenham Town share a 1-1 draw in their first-ever football league meeting.
Fans who attended the game at Forest Green’s New Lawn ground have dispersed but police continue to maintain a presence in the area.
A statement from Forest Green Rovers was released on Twitter following the incident: “Forest Green Rovers are aware of the incident that happened at the bottom of Spring Hill following the conclusion of today's game.
"The club will support the police in their investigations."
Earlier this afternoon, a police officer sustained a leg injury in an incident which is not believed to have involved a third party.
