ASPIRING musicians, singers, dancers, actors and performers of all descriptions are being invited to enter the seventh annual Undiscovered Youth Talent Contest.

Organisers are geared up for 100 acts to audition and the emphasis will be on giving all entrants some positive feedback.

Auditions take place in Stroud on November 3, 4, 17 and 18 and will be held in the Little Vic, Gloucester Street. The final will take place on January 26 at the Subscription Rooms.

Brendan Conboy, of the Door Youth Project, said: "We encourage all sorts of bands, singers and dancers to audition and it's not like the X-Factor, the panel of judges is there to be constructive, we want to build people up and see their skills develop.

"The standard is high but we have young people who come forward through the Youth Door coffee bar. We teach them skills and they get the confidence to enter. They take the feedback and learn to develop their skills. The auditions are beneficial for all levels, so even if you are into karaoke you are encouraged to come along.

"In bands we look for something a bit different and suitable for a mixed age audience. Last year we saw a high standard of singer/ songwriters and duos and trios; we categorise a band as three or more people playing two or more instruments. We see a lot of metal and rock and we'd love to see a bit more reggae, indie, jazz, something a bit different; as well as more original compositions."

Prizes include recording studio time at DB Studios in Stroud and there is no doubt that this competition opens doors. So if you are aged 11-25 contact Brendan on 01453 756745 or brendan@thedooryouthproject.org.uk. You can also download entry forms from www.thedoor.ik.com
