A MUCH loved wife and mother from Whitminster died in a road accident in the Lake District while enjoying a motorbiking weekend with friends.

Dianne Burridge, 51, was riding pillion on her husband's motorcycle during a weekend break with the Severn Advanced Motorcyclists Club when the crash happened in Grasmere at 4.30pm on Saturday.

Mrs Burridge sustained serious injuries and was taken to Cumberland Infirmary Hospital in Carlisle by air ambulance, where she later died.

A Renault Clio and another motorbike were involved in the collision.

Along with her husband, known as Budge, Mrs Burridge had been a member of the club for 10 years.

Graham Bailey, chairman of club, was with the group at the time.

He said: "We were touring the area and taking in the sights and the weekend was running really well.

"We had very good weather and spirits were high.

"The couple were always travelling together, they were almost inseparable.

"They lost their 15-year-old son about five years ago and Di was very strong mentally. She was a tough little cookie."

Mrs Burridge and her husband shared a passion for motorbikes and were prominent in the social side of the club.

"Their last day together was spent doing what they loved the most," added Mr Bailey.

Mrs Burridge, who worked at GCHQ, also leaves behind a daughter who got married last weekend and was on her honeymoon at the time of the accident.
