A COTSWOLD councillor believes that the district may have the misfortune to be home of Britain's biggest pothole.
The unfortunate boast was put forward by Councillor Paul Hodgkinson after he spotted the crater-like hole in Calmsden, Gloucestershire.
He Tweeted a picture of fellow Gloucestershire County Councillor Jenny Forde standing inside the hole which had partly filled with water.
The post said: “Is this the biggest #pothole you’ve ever seen? Me and @JennyFordey think so! #Cirencester.”
Mr Hodgkinson, the county council Liberal Democrats leader, tweeted in response to campaigner Mr Pothole who asked people to tell him the worst road for potholes between Bristol and London.
