All things spud were celebrated last Saturday at the ninth annual Stroud Potato Day.
Green-fingered growers of all persuasions joined members of groups Down to Earth and Transition Stroud on February 2 at their stall at the town's farmers' market, showing off the potatoes they had grown over the last year.
Organisers Amanda Godber and Jane Brown said after the event: "As other stall holders well know, the cold creeps through the layers, but our volunteers gave a warm welcome to a record number of folk buying seed potatoes and taking locally saved seeds from our Community Seed Bank.
"The day positively buzzed with seedy enthusiasm!
"Thank you especially to Gerb, the market organiser, Dundry Nurseries for our potatoes, Norah Kennedy for potato lemon drizzle cake, Radio Gloucester and, of course, Stroud News and Journal for informing readers of our event.
"Thank you to everyone who braved ice and snow to support us in promoting a healthy life on our amazing planet Earth, by encouraging “Grow your Own”, local produce and reducing food waste and miles."
