It is the time of the year to relish the best of the English garden and with the open gardens scheme returning to Painswick this year, it promises to be a very special event.

Estate agents Hamptons International, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, has resurrecting the scheme in the town to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Staff were challenged to each raise £150 for charity and Painswick branch sales administrator Vanessa Price decided that the potential interest in the town’s exquisite property and gardens was too great to overlook.

Vanessa has subsequently managed to persuade 12 Painswick residents to open their homes to the public, and their gardens will be welcoming visitors from 11am until 3pm on Saturday.

Refreshments will be served at the Painswick Centre and plants will also be on sale. Entry is £5 for adults and free for children.

It is not too late to volunteer to open your garden to be part of the Cancer Research fundraising day on Saturday. For donations of plants, cakes or to volunteer on the day, contact Hamptons on 812352 or Painswick@hamptons-int.com
