K’nex Challenge

A few weeks ago I was in a team with one of my friends Harry Hopkins at the K’nex challenge final in Renishaw at Wotton under Edge as we had won the competition in our class.

I always enjoy going to Renishaw as they are such a cool company.

We had to try to build a robot arm that would help a surgeon, it needed to move in more than one direction, have pulleys or cogs to operate it, made out of the box of construction kit we had been given.

There were lots of schools there to try to win the prize of some K’nex, we came 5th out of about 50 schools.

Well done everyone else that entered, or got to the finals.

The Great Gastrells Bake Off

I recently won the school cake making competition.

The aim was to make a cake to represent you.

I made a cello because I play the cello. It was a chocolate cake with strawberry jam filling covered in indulgent caramel fondant.

It was shaped like a cello and I used strawberry laces for the strings and made the bridge, pegs and spike out of black icing and the final touch to it was being served on a home decorated board decorated in old cello sheet music and sprinkled with mini marshmallows.

Our school raised £1,200 for the Sue Ryder Hospice at Leckhampton, WOW!!!
