NATURE lovers flocked to Stratford Park for the return of Stroud's Big Nature Festival on Sunday.

The family friendly event, which has been running since 2008, was preceded on Saturday night by a talk from festival guest speaker, TV naturalist Steve Backshall, at Stratford Park Leisure Centre.

The Big Nature Festival itself took place among the trees in the arboretum at Stratford Park, on Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

The event brought around 45 organisations together and welcomed around 3,500 visitors.

It featured stalls, demonstrations, talks and a host of activities all designed to explore and celebrate nature and wildlife and inspire everyone to act now to take better care of our planet.

Festival director Steve Roberts said: "It's a very interactive event with a focus on encouraging families, and children in particular, to stay curious, explore, discover, be inspired and feel empowered to do something, no matter how insignificant it might seem."
