AN ANIMAL lover from Stonehouse has penned a brand new children's book.
Rory the Rescue Dog is based on some of the real life adventures experienced by author Paula Towers and her rescue dogs, Rory and Laddie.
"It's about a rescue dog, who became the rescuer," she said.
“I wanted to write a book that would enable children to be aware of, and care for, the creatures around them.”
A musician and music teacher, Paula said she is keen to encourage children to have fun and to generally get involved in reading, music and the arts.
As well as being a 'good read', the book it also contains songs, poems and a dance.
"I have written original music to accompany some of the songs, aimed at those who like to sing or are learning to play a musical instrument," said Paula.
"The sheet music and audio backing are available as pdf and mp3 files."
Although the book is aimed at primary school age children, Paula said lots of adults have told her they enjoyed it too.
Rory and Laddie came into Paula's life through Cheltenham Animal Shelter, and as a way of saying thank you she is giving a percentage of each book sale to them.
